chaddCharles Privette, Impacting One Life!

A decade ago, Charles Privette worked for Hillcrest High School. He presided over youth in school detention. He was known as the school jailer.

During that time, Privette came in contact with Chad Webb, a troubled student who loved to draw. But shortly, thereafter, Webb argued violently with his father, ran away in retaliation, and proceeded to commit a series of robberies and burglaries for which he was sentenced to 116 years in prison.

At the time these crimes were committed, Webb was 17 years old. Amazingly enough, in all the years that Webb has been locked up, Charles Privette is the only person who has ever visited him.

One day Privette asked Webb to write a letter to his grandson who seemed to be headed down the same path. He wanted his grandson to know that making the wrong choices could lead to a life in prison – and who would know better than Webb what that really meant?

Privette was so impressed with the 13-page letter Webb wrote that he asked his permission to publish and distribute it for free to middle and high school principals so that Webb’s story could be shared with other troubled youth. The letter has been turned into a paperback book called, “116 Years!! Will I Live that Long?”

“Privette is 72. He’s seen a lot of life as an insurance salesman, as co-owner with his wife of a Simpsonville bridal salon, as a photographer and as Mr. ISS.” Looking back, Privette feels that Webb has given him a better outlook on life. In return, he hopes that he has helped Webb and other troubled youth at least in some small measure.

If you would like more information on how to get a copy of the book or if you would like to have Charles Privette, Motivational Speaker, come speak at your school about Chad Webb’s experiences, please call (864) 423-8664.
